Spotlight on Emergency Dental Care

If you schedule an exam and teeth cleaning with your dentist every six months, then you’re already taking important steps to preserve your oral health. However, under certain circumstances, you might need to visit an emergency dentist in between your usual appointments. For example, if you live in the Westlake region and you sustain a broken tooth or knocked out tooth, you’ll need to visit the dental office right away. A lost or broken filling is another example of a common dental emergency. Other reasons for an emergency visit are severe or persistent tooth pain and jaw pain.

As soon as you experience a dental emergency, call the office and inform the receptionist of the situation. He or she will explain the steps you should take while you’re on your way to the office. For instance, if you’ve lost a tooth, you should recover it and place it in a glass of milk. When you arrive at the office, the dentist will do everything possible to save your natural tooth. If it cannot be saved, he or she will explain your dental restoration options.
